My father loves to bake

I love baking don't always have the time but when I do it - I simply enjoy it. Even more the final product. Yum!

Just working at the mixing and even the process of discovering a new recipe and how best to put it together builds excitement. Its all in my gifting to decide how the cake I'm creating should taste and look. I love it.

The real magic however happens in the oven. Once the batter is locked in the heat and hum of sultry temperatures, something really amazing is taking shape. If you get as excited as my 5 year boy and like to watch through the oven window, for the first few minutes of the process absolutely nothing appears to be happening on the surface of the batter in the tin. Nothing. It just sits there but actually something is happening....in fact a lot is happening we just don't see it.

The heat from the air in the oven is being transferred from the atmosphere in the oven to the inside of the batter where a significant structural change takes place to deliver a cake that is soft, springy and brown on the outside....and the fragrance it releases. " Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing." (2 Corinthians 2:15)

It is a privilege to know that our father has mixed up some things uniquely for our purpose and sometimes we may experience heat but that's only because there is a structural change that needs to happen on the inside. Often that change maybe uncomfortable but if we lean into what God has purposed, if we trust Him and stay in position, the outpour of that season of our life into others is an experience of great joy. In the grand plan of our father, our life span on earth maybe minutiae but it makes such a difference as well, carries the potential for so much joy, healing and love.

Lets not be tempted to pull open the oven door to early....any seasoned baker will tell you what would happen. The cake falls.

Let our prayer be that God himself will restructure our appetites and change mindsets. If you sense a bit of unrest sometimes it might be Him tinkering with a few things He needs to put straight. So don't always fight the discomfort, sit in it for awhile and let the spirit minister what He is about with you or around you.

Rom 12:2 Don't copy the behaviours and customs of this world but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."

Changing seasons and difficulties presents an opportunity. An opportunity for God to go a little deeper with us, to heal and touch us in places we have unconsciously kept hidden away or tried to bury in order to fit in or move on with the rest of the world. This is where we could experience the expert hand of a father who loves to bake. Yum!

Be blessed!
